Three-Day Master Class
Nancy Bishop, CSA Casting Director and author, of “Secrets from the Casting Couch,” offers special Master classes in her home city of Prague, 15- 17th, July 2011.
Summary: This three day Master Class is designed for actors who wish to brush up on their professional on screen audition skills as well as to make connections in the international acting community. Each actor will get professional feedback and a copy of their on camera scene work. The package course includes one meal per day plus a Friday evening dinner. 10:30 Meet at venue for welcome coffee and orientation.
11:00 “Marketing Seminar for International Work”
In this seminar, actors will learn how to present themselves for international work; how to crack into the US and European markets. Marketing skills covered will include how to develop an effective C.V, chose a key photo for headshots, and create a show reel and website. Casting videos from successful actors will be screened.
13:00 Lunch at Peperocino (Vegetarian and meat options.)
14:30-17:00 “Archetype Workshop”. Actors should bring their photos and C.V.s for discussion. The class will view and critique one another’s headshots, helping to pinpoint a key archetypal headshot for each actor.
19:00 Special Vegetarian Dinner. Radost FX, Prague’s Premiere Night Club.

14:00-17:00 continuation of Master Class. This section targets specific strategies for casting, including cold reading skills, and audition technique. Nancy will assign scenes from a variety of genres the actor will prepare for the following day.

11:00-13:00 Master Class “Scene Study”. Actors will further develop auditioning and screen acting skills with a “mock casting” by taping and reviewing scenes.

About the Secrets from the Casting Couch: Why is it that so many good actors don’t perform well at castings? Secrets from the Casting Couch gives practical advice for actors, written from a casting director’s point of view, teaching the craft of film auditioning in front of camera. It shows how actors can work with today’s internet technologies to book roles and features advice and actual exercises that achieve results in the casting studio. The book will be available for a discounted price of 10 EUR.
About Prague: Meet and work with actors form all over Europe in beautiful Prague, the “Golden City” filled with a thousand spires. The master classes will take place at Vivid Casting Studio in Prague 7, near Letna Park that looks out over Vlatva River onto the city. Prague is also of particular interest to actors not only because of its rich theatre history (notably with former President/playwright Vaclav Havel) but because hundreds of film makers and large scale studios flock to Prague each year to shoot films. Past films which have shot there and on which Nancy cast include Casino Royale, The Illusionist, and the soon to be released George Lucas film, Red Tails.
